Aedes Mosquito And Dengue Fever.

Dengue is not an uncommon disease in our country. It is a viral disease like influenza or other viral ones and absolutely self limiting disease. Now let's have a link about dengue. 50-100 million cases occur every year in the tropics with over 10,000 deaths from dengue haemorrhagic fever. Dengue is caused by a flavi virus. It is found mainly in Asia, South America and Africa. Four different Antigenic varieties of the dengue viruses are recognized and all are transmitted by the day time bitting of Aedes Aegypty mosquito. Humans are ineffective during the first three days of the illness. Mosquito becomes ineffective about two weeks after feeding on an infected individual. And it remains so for the rest of their lives. The disease is usually inepedemic. Immunity after the illness is partial. 

Two classical forms of Dengue is recognized. One of them is Classical Dengue Fever and other Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever. Classical Dengue Fever is characterized by the abrupt onset of fever, malaise, headache, facial flushing, retrobulbar pain. This is worse on eye movements, conjunctival suffusion and some backache which is a prominent symptom. Lymphadenopathy  petiache on the soft palate and skin rashes may also occur. The rash is transient and morbiliform. Dengue Haemorrhagic fever is a servere form of Dengue fever. It is believed to be the result of two or more sequential infection with different dengue stereotype. It is a disease of children and has been found in South Asia. The disease had a mild start with  symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection. 

However, what we should do to get rid of this dengue is to protect mosquito bite. put mosquito net during sleep even in the day time, use mosquito coil and spray if possible. One important thing is that please do consult with a doctor if you get fever nowadays.
